Glass Cleaning
The glass sealed units installed in your property should only be cleaned using mild soapy water and a cloth or sponge. Never use abrasive cleaners, strong detergents or solvents to clean the surface of your glass or glazing bars.
Frame Cleaning
The window frames in your property should be cleaned at regular intervals using mild soapy water and a cloth or sponge only. Should you need to remove any build up of dirt or atmospheric deposits from your frames you should use a non-abrasive cream PVCu frame cleaner, available in all good department or DIY stores.
Hardware Maintenance
a) Window hinges should be regularly cleaned and lubricated using light oil such as WD40 or TD10. Never use heavy oils as these have the effect of holding the dirt and other deposits.
b) Under no circumstances should door cylinder locks be oiled. Should the locks require any maintenance, lubricate using graphite dust only.
c) Handles should be cleaned using soapy water and a soft cloth or similar. Never use abrasive cleaners on the handles, letter plates or any metalwork whatsoever.
General Maintenance
Providing your window and door frames are cleaned and maintained regularly they will keep their lustre and shine and provide you with a service well beyond the guarantee period. Care should be taken against the erratic opening and closing of windows and doors as this could possibly lead to spraining of the hardware or premature wear and tear of the locks and attachment to the frames.
